A Story Artisan is a craftsman who tells stories through visual realization, interpretive art, themed elements, creative writing, or specialty construction. SRO’s team of story artisans have diverse backgrounds that bring a unique skill sets to the overall team. Individually they are artists, collectively they are Story Artisans.
Eddy has extensive background in the live entertainment industry. Eddy started in the Broadway tours and concert business, in charge of marketing, promoting, producing, and managing theatrical shows and venues. Eddy held a number of creative and managerial roles at both Gaylord Entertainment's Opryland and Walt Disney World. Eddy relocated to San Antonio as the Director of Entertainment for the Grand Opening of Fiesta Texas. Eddy founded SRO in 1996 as a way to extend his creative reach, exceed client expectations, and give artisans a place where their abilities are celebrated. Eddy is a global-thinker, artistic-visionary, story-teller, coach, and mentor. No project is too complex or technical for his level of thinking. Eddy claims, “Creativity is making seemingly unconnected connections connect”.
Karen earned an MFA in Scenic Design from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. She has an impressive portfolio and extensive skills. Her broad understanding of non-traditional scenic design informs SRO’s specialty construction projects. Since 1999, Karen has been Art Director, Scenic Designer, and Project Manager for large construction projects at SRO. Karen has designed shows and themed décor for clients in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Karen leads the Design, Fabrication, and Scenic departments of SRO with compassion and gentle understanding. Her skills, experience, and artistic vision make her a highly respected leader of SRO’s projects.
Terry began his affiliation with SRO Associates in 2001 and has been instrumental in the planning, construction and installation of scenery for SeaWorld Parks nationwide, Busch Gardens, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Hersheypark, Ralph Lauren stores and much more. Terry has an impressive portfolio, extensive technical and production background, and spent many years as a freelance scenic carpenter.
Louis has been designing for theme parks, theatres, concerts, cruise lines, and business meetings. His work is seen by more than 2 million people annually, and is part of many award-winning shows. Louis holds a BA in theatre from Trinity University. He is also an experienced laser show designer, who designed many unique and monumental events.
Raul is sought-after, highly skilled, and extremely creative. Since beginning this career, Raul has designed and built costumes for multiple performances and dance companies. Raul will tell you that his favorite SRO show was “Beyond the Dragon Gate,” at Hershey Park. He also said his favorite shows that he worked on as a dresser at the Majestic Theatre were Wicked and Phantom of the Opera.
Kevin has his BS in Engineering from Trinity University and his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Technical Theatre/Theatre Design and Technology from the University of Texas. He is instrumental in keeping projects moving forward. The uniqueness of the projects SRO works on is what drew Kevin in and what drives his passion.
Dina completed her degree at the University of the Incarnate Word, where she found a love for scenic design and construction. She has an eye for beauty, and when her hands sculpt, mold, and paint, she turns everything into a work of art. She is a quiet leader, highly respected, and continues to pour her heart and soul into every project.
Sara has been a part of the SRO family of Story Artisans since 2004. Sara is a naturally born artist who studied Fine Arts at UTSA and now, she visualizes our clients’ needs and artistically communicates their messages with the use of graphics, schematics, and illustration.
With his BS in Computer Graphic Arts from the University of the Incarnate Word, Milo brings creativity and an artistic touch to our design projects since 2010. He is a big-picture visual thinker with an eye for environmetal design, branding, signage and wayfiding design. He is also savvy in front-end development for UIX Interactive design.
Martin is an experienced production designer for operas, plays, musicals, movies and entertainment. Martin holds a BFA in Scenic and Costume Design, from the University of Arts in Tirana, Albania and MFA degree from Boston University, College of Fine Arts where he was awarded the prestigious “Douglas W. Schmidt Award for Excellence in Scenic Design.” Martin is experienced in hand drafting, model making, scenic design, fine art painting, sculpting, drawing, and many graphic related computer programs. Notable projects include: The Last Day of Judas Iscariot (MFA Thesis Project), La Clemenza di Tito (Boston University - Opera Institute), Our Girl in Trenton, (Boston University - New Play Initiative), Folk Festival, (Ulcinj Theater, Montenegro), The Golden Cage (second and third edition - News 24 TV, Tirana, Albania), and many others.
Jake joined the SRO family as a professional BMX Biker in our award-winning Xceleration show. Now he is our master-of-metal, turning raw aluminum and steel into works of art. He keeps us laughing and moving forward in all our projects. No idea is too big nor detail too small for Jake.
Easton earned his BS in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University. His passion for education and learning allow him to translate concepts and ideas into tangible interactive experiences in S.R.O.’s exhibitions through collaboration, critical thinking, and innovation. Easton also uses CNC machining to aid in turning creative ideas into reality.
Joanna received her Bachelor of Industrial Design degree from Auburn University in 2015. She has a diverse background in both product development and art, having designed everything from medical devices to office furniture. The creative atmosphere and "idea-to-reality" services that SRO offers drew her to joining the company in 2018. Joanna's extensive skill set, passion for creative problem solving, and attention to detail drive her work at SRO. She contributes to the company's success by developing project solutions through 3D modeling and technical drafting.
Brandon graduated with a BS in Computer Science concentrating in Software Engineering. Since joining SRO he has split his time between rigging lights, maintaining network infrastructure, and developing digital interactives. Brandon’s lighting and electrical handiwork can be seen on the San Antonio Tricentennial float that debuted at the 2017 Texas State Fair. He has developed engaging interactive elements for the San Antonio International Airport, Toyota’s Visitor and Education Center, and a non-profit specialized family services facility called Bryan’s House.
Jef is a silent and strong leader who brings a variety of skills in creation and installation to the crews he leads for SRO. Jef graduated from Georgetown College in Kentucky with degrees in Theater and Fine Arts before heading to New York to work in fabrication. In 2006 he moved to San Antonio and eventually made his way out to SRO, where his quiet sense of humor and steady work ethic make him a wonderful asset to our team. Jef is married to a fellow artist and has a beautiful family.
